The SoCal Ocean Racing Series is getting ready to close out another fantastic season of racing. We have had great conditions for all of our races, even when we were fended off by the coast guard from leaving the harbor (the inside racing was worth showing up for). Only one weather cancellation, but it was a good call; the rain and wind was downright nasty that day. At time of print, we are gearing up for the championships at Marina, hoping for a down-swell run. Next, we head over to Catalina to race the Ocean Ohana Relay back to Dana Point.

We have seen a huge number of SUP racers on our series and will be making great strides in series to come to be sure we accommodate them as well as the paddle board community.

Hamsterworks has been on the water shooting some fine photos, along with WindNSea. Willie and others have contributed to various “I love me” walls in the state of California.

Big thanks to Ropati and Pacific Paddler magazine for continued support of our racing across the pond. And to Jude of Huki Outrigger, a big sponsor of the series; also, PaddleMe.com, Epic and Valhalla Surski for the Junior Points Surfski giveaway, Kialoa paddles, Patagonia and Better Surf Than Sorry and Caseman, Inc.

We will be revamping the series for next year. Making awards more standard, and points easier to understand. Please feel free to give us your feedback.

The two races covered are the Hanohano race that was run inside the Bay in San Diego. One little story about going out when the Harbor Patrol suggests that you don't — well, ask Phillipe about that mishap! The other race was the Dana Point Ocean Challenge. Condidtions on the course were awesome and the best surfing race we have had.

Another down-swell run race was the Carpet Beach Race, a Lanakila Production. After the freezing wind chilled us to the bone as we waited on the start line, we weren’t disappointed with the great rides we had coming home on that course.

Thank you to all who came out to play and support. Thank you to our race hosts, safety boat drivers and our sponsors. Visit us at www.eteamz.com/socaloceanracing and support the businesses who are giving to the sport.
