Honolulu Pearl Club

A Wounded Warrior regatta was held on Labor Day, September the 6th. The event was organized by the Navy Region Morale, Welfare, and Recreation and was held at the Rainbow Bay Marina Canoe Hale at Pearl Harbor.

Honolulu Pearl contributed to the outrigger canoe paddling community by handing out information about the sport and the several issues of Pacific Paddler magazine.  We actually had more than 10 people signing up for the 2011 paddling season right at the event, which I think was great for the paddling community.  Military members move frequently, and they will be the future ambassadors for outrigger canoeing community at the places they go around the world.

Honolulu Pearl practices at Rainbow Bay Marina Canoe Hale with Navy sponsorship. Due to this sponsor relationship, Honolulu Pearl maintains majority military membership, but the club is open to anyone interested in the sport, and the club does not require a connection to military or government.
Honolulu Pearl was there helping set up before the event, and clean up after.  In addition to steering canoes for the teams that did not have a steersman, they also manned several areas including the coordination desk and judges desk.
