The lush tropical islands of the Fiji archipelago offer an array of recreational activities so no one goes home unhappy. One of the main attractions of the islands are its people. Native Fijians are considered one of the most friendly people in the world. As in Hawaii with Aloha, you will be greeted with resounding “Bula” upon, possibly even before, arrival. Once in Fiji, one only needs to decide on a destination as there are over 350 islands to choose from. The main island of Viti Levu offers a “Waikiki like” destination in Denerau near the international airport. This is also a launching point for the nearby islands of the Mamanuca’s and Yasawa’s and also the world famous ‘Cloudbreak’ surf spot. If staying at one of the upscale resorts, one can book an array of activities including: sailing, surfing, snorkeling, diving, deep sea fishing, white water rafting, hiking, kayaking, zip lining, golfing, bird watching, etc. Fiji’s islands are surrounded by shoreline reefs which provide some of the worlds most beautiful dive spots. The difficulty is in choosing which destination to go to. The island of Kadavu, south of the main island and a 45-minutes flight from the airport, hosts the Great Astrolabe Reef system and is the second largest reef system in the Pacific. One of Kadavu’s newest activities is outrigger canoeing in OC-1’s & 2’s among the Astrolabe’s lagoon and its many remote islands.

These Astrolabe Reef Outrigger Canoeing Adventures allow paddlers to explore the tropically rugged and scenic islands of the Great Astrolabe Reef, while also enjoying many other activities. Each adventure tour offer stays at multiple resorts with daily paddling, mixed with a full array of other events. The tours typically include two-to-three nights at different resorts to allow for full exploration of the Great Astrolabe Reef Lagoon. Weather conditions vary at all times during the year, but located in the tropics anytime of year is good for travel. If you like cooler temps, June – Sep. is better.
